INCIDENT:  Stranded Rafters Rescued

LOCATION:  Upper Sacramento River Canyon, near Soda Creek

SYNOPSIS:

Southern Pacific Railroad conductor advised there were several subjects on rafts yelling for help, when They were passing through the area.  Shasta County Sheriff's Deputies, and the CHP Helicopter,responded to the area.  CHP reported there were eight people stranded on the east side of the river nearSoda Creek.  Southern Pacific stopped all traffic for the safety of everyone.  The CHP Helicopter airliftedSeven adults and one, seven year old boy to safety.  There were no injuries.  The rescue effort was Coordinated by Deputy David Eoff.
